The U.S. Department of State has elevated its travel warning, advising U.S. citizens to return to the United States if possible and avoid all other international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. Ohio State has suspended all university-sponsored international travel and any non-essential domestic travel. Those restrictions remain in place indefinitely.
* The latest from the U.S. Department of State: Routine visa services
are suspended and students from some countries are barred from entering the United States
. While this will affect international students outside the U.S. who need a visa, it will not necessarily affect international students residing in the U.S. who are transferring from a U.S. undergraduate institution to Ohio State.
While entry can never be guaranteed, make sure you have a valid passport, valid F-1 visa, a travel signature on your I-20 signed within the last year, and your funding documents to minimize your risk. Your ability to enter the U.S. will be determined by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials at the port of entry. There are currently a variety of restrictions prohibiting various groups of foreign nationals from entering the United States due to COVID-19. We have no ability to predict how suspensions of travel will evolve during the upcoming weeks/months, nor what kind of scrutiny will be in place at the port of entry.
